Silver chain row counter

My favourite way to count rows and repeats. ⁠It works just like an abacus - it's beautifully simple, and makes counting a pleasure!

Customise it...

Choose the chain length:

• 4 rings - for counting four-row repeats.
• 10 rings - for counting up to 100 rows.

Choose the ring size:

• Small - fits up to 4mm needles
• Medium - fits up to 7mm needles
• Large - fits up to 10mm needles

(If it's a gift or you're not sure which to choose, try the 10 ring Medium size.)

How it works...

Knitting: 

Place the first ring - the big clip - onto your needles to mark row 1.
(When knitting in the round, place it at the beginning of the round. When knitting flat, place it anywhere along the row.)

Knit. When you reach the chain again, slip the needle onto the second ring to count row 2. Keep going like this.

When you reach the end of the chain, start again. Now you can add the little clip to count the 10s or repeats. Every time you finish the chain, move the clip down to the next ring. For example, with a 10 ring chain counter, if the clip is on the third ring and the needle is in the second ring, that's row 32.

So simple! :)

Crochet:

Even easier! Clip it onto your project or wherever you like, and use the little clip to count. Start on the first ring (the big clip) and move it down a ring with each row or repeat. This will count 1-10. If you like you can use an extra progress keeper to count the 10s in the same way, going up to 100 :)
